Douala, Cameroon – July 24, 2025
FUNIC Cameroon Higher Institute of Entrepreneurship and Technology has released its 2024 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report, marking nearly a decade of transformative educational impact. Since 2015, the institution has awarded an impressive 698 scholarships amounting to over 503 million XAF, affirming its deep-rooted belief that education can change everything.
The scholarships have provided a lifeline to some of the country’s most vulnerable populations, including 289 girls, 155 boys, 28 teenage mothers, and 272 internally displaced persons from Cameroon’s North West and South West regions. Each scholarship has not only opened the door to education but also restored hope, dignity, and opportunity to young people affected by poverty, conflict, and displacement.
A highlight of the report is the impact of the Girls in STEM Scholarship, initiated by Dr. Fotabe Elmine, which has empowered 16 young women to study Software Engineering—free from financial constraints. Six more girls are expected to join the program in the coming year, expanding the initiative’s reach and influence.
The report also acknowledges the vital partnership with the Association for the Promotion of Decent Work for Women and Girls (ASSPRODEC). From 2022 to 2024 alone, ASSPRODEC has contributed 28.9 million XAF to FUNIC’s scholarship fund, helping provide educational opportunities for vulnerable young women who might otherwise be left behind.
“Together with our partners, we’ve watched displaced youth find stability through learning and teenage mothers reclaim their futures,” the report reads. “Every year, we go further—reaffirming that education is not just a dream, but a right worth fighting for.”
FUNIC’s CSR report stands as a powerful testament to the role of education in nation-building and social transformation. As the institution looks to the future, it remains committed to expanding access to education and empowering the next generation of Cameroonian leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
